This is an exquisite handpainted piece from Nippon Japan. It is extremely rare. I believe it is either a tea / ginger jar. If you know it's purpose, please let me know. I am intrigued as it has two lids. The first lid has holes in it which I believe maybe for releasing scent? The second lid is solid porcelain with a gold painted knob.
The hand painted details in this piece are so beautiful. The top lid with holes & painted roses does appear to be cracked. I am not sure if it had been repaired or if it is a surface crack. It feels smooth.
Measures approximately 5" x 5".
